Must See Event: New TeeVee

We all know online video is changing the way we make and view movies, but its scope has so far been limited to a solo audience in front of a 15-inch screen. NewTeeVee sets out to take great short flicks to the masses with free big screen premieres, complete with beer, popcorn and a living, breathing audience.
Continuing the success they've had in San Fran, the NewTeeVee Pier Screenings series comes to NYC for tonight only with 6 short videos -- chosen from a pool of online submissions voted on by visitors to the Pier Screenings site -- all exploring variations on the proverbial love story (porno excluded, sorry). The evening's 3 favorites will each get the new iPod Nano from Next New Networks (owner and operator of your dear IndyMogul), as well as face time on Metacafe's front page, where they can expect great exposure and even some dough -- every 1,000 views earns the filmmaker $5.
On hand to lend their expertise and share their experience with the DIYers in attendance are Kathleen Grace (creator, producer and director of online serial The Burg), Jakob Lodwick (founder of Vimeo and prolific online video creator) and viral video expert, Amber Lee Ettinger AKA Obama Girl.
Even if you don't have a video in the running you could come away a winner with an AppleTV with JamanTV support from Jaman or some free cash from Metacafe if your raffle ticket number is called.
Show up for the free booze and stay for the newest and best in online video storytelling -- you may even pick up some inspiration or a cute video collaborator.
