Take the Next Step: Scriptapalooza
With hundreds of channels available on cable why is there sometimes nothing on? “Change the way you watch TV,” say the folks at Scriptapalooza, and create what you think should be showing on the tube. Submit your original or spec script for a half-hour sitcom, one-hour program or reality show to the 9th Semi-Annual Television Writing Competition.
Created to “promote careers in television and provide exposure for the undiscovered writer,” Scriptapalooza’s winning works are read by dozens of TV execs, production companies and literary agents, who often set up meetings and jobs in the industry. Better yet, past winners have gone on to write for Comedy Central and even win Emmys.
With few competitions focused on screenwriting, and even less on TV scribes, Sciptapalooza may very well be worth the $40 entry fee. The deadline is October 15th, so get writing.
