Wesley's Weekly HOW TO: Fake Rocks

POSTED BY Wesley Scoggins, 02 April 2008 | PERMALINK

So you want to smash a boulder over one of your actors head, but you don't want that to be the final scene of their career? The answer is obvious, you need a fake rock.

I love green floral foam for this, because it's very soft and easy to carve and texture. If you want to make a large stone or boulder, start by forming them in the general shape.

Drawn by Pain

POSTED BY Jesse Cowell "Jeskid', 02 April 2008 | PERMALINK

As a big fan of the show, I wanted to introduce our very own DIY project "Drawn by Pain" that's been a few years in the making. It's half HD live action/half Animated and lots of running around trying to make something cool. It's a drama - yeah I know - NOT FUNNY! Well check out this guy. He is an English filmmaker who has vowed to make an entire feature length film on his own!...

5 Minute Movie House VIII

POSTED BY Wesley Scoggins, 30 March 2008 | PERMALINK

This was probably one of the toughest weeks of competition we've ever had for the 5 Minute Movie House, there was a great viewer response, and a lot of really fantastic submissions, but after a long fight there was only one left standing, this weeks victor was the very funny short "Kessel Run", by G. Jesse Martinez.

Its a bunch of nerds racing to get to ComicCon to stop one of...

What a sweet opportunity, I've always wanted to go to Canada! And I suppose a full ride through film school isn't so bad either.

Vimeo Vid of the Day, "The Legend of the Scarecrow" by Carlos Lascano

POSTED BY Bobby Miller, 27 March 2008 | PERMALINK

The Legend of the Scarecrow from Carlos Lascano on Vimeo.

This short film was created using various 2D and 3D elements in After Effects and it looks like something out of a Tim Burton film. It's in Spanish though and unfortunately there are no subtitles. Which sucks because I don't remember anything from 9th grade Spanish class. You can learn more about how he created...
